In-Play Betting
One thing many Malaysian badminton fans underestimate is how valuable deep knowledge of the sport can be when betting in-play. If you know that Lee Zii Jia tends to play more aggressively when he's trailing, or that Aaron and Wooi Yik typically take control in the third set when a match is tight — that's exactly the kind of insight that can give you an edge with live betting at VM777.
VM777 provides real-time score updates for all active matches. Odds shift with every point depending on how the sets are progressing — this creates opportunities for sharp bettors who can read the game to find far better value than pre-match betting allows. Every three-set badminton match is a chance to enter at attractive odds when your favourite player or team is fighting back.
Complete Guide
Malaysians and badminton — this relationship needs no lengthy explanation. From the era of the Sidek brothers to the reign of Datuk Lee Chong Wei, badminton has become a deeply rooted national identity. Whenever Malaysian players compete on the international stage, the entire nation feels it. VM777 understands this passion, which is why our platform places special focus on delivering the most comprehensive and detailed badminton coverage for Malaysian players.
Unlike sports such as football, where outcomes can be difficult to predict given 22 players and numerous unpredictable variables, badminton is a singles or doubles sport that lends itself to more thorough analysis. You can study each player's style of play, their head-to-head records, performance on specific court surfaces, and even factors such as schedule fatigue. All of this information is publicly available, and with the right analysis, it can form the basis of more informed betting decisions at VM777.
VM777 covers more than 20 BWF tournaments throughout the year — from the Malaysia Open at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, all the way to the BWF World Championships, Thomas Cup, Uber Cup, and Sudirman Cup. That means nearly every week on the international badminton calendar, there's a match you can follow and bet on at VM777. For Malaysian badminton fans who already follow every tournament closely, this is a chance to put that existing knowledge to good use.
Badminton betting at VM777 covers a range of different market types. The most straightforward is the match winner bet — simply pick either Player A or Player B to win. This is ideal for beginners and requires no in-depth analysis. The odds for each match reflect the market's assessment of each possible outcome — the lower a player's odds, the stronger the market considers them to be the favourite.
For more experienced bettors, VM777 also offers set handicap betting — for example, the favoured player may be given a -1.5 set handicap, meaning they need to win 2–0 for your bet to succeed. Over/under set markets are also available — predict whether the match will end in 2 sets or require a deciding 3rd set. Three-set matches typically occur when both players are closely matched in calibre, and identifying such matches can offer strong betting value.
Another bet type popular among experienced VM777 players is the tournament winner market. Before a tournament begins, you can place a bet on who will lift the trophy. The odds here are often very attractive — especially if you believe in a Malaysian player who is underrated by the general market but has a strong record at a particular venue. Local players like Lee Zii Jia and Aaron/Wooi Yik have a habit of springing surprises at tournaments held across Asia.
If there is one badminton tournament that has produced the most emotionally charged moments for Malaysians, it is the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup. These team events carry a different weight compared to individual tournaments — it is no longer about a single player; it is about Malaysia as a whole. VM777 gives both tournaments its full attention, with complete match coverage, team analysis, and real-time updated odds from the group stage all the way to the final.
For the Thomas Cup in particular, Malaysia is consistently one of the strongest and most favoured teams. The depth of Malaysian talent in the men's singles and men's doubles categories means that backing Malaysia in the Thomas Cup often presents good value. VM777 provides Malaysia's Thomas Cup historical statistics — wins, losses and records against specific opponents — to help you make more informed betting decisions.
Badminton parlays at VM777 are especially popular during the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup when Malaysia is in action. Many Malaysian players combine several Malaysian matches into a single parlay ticket — for example, Malaysia winning the first MS, first MD and first WS all on the same match day. If all three come through, the multiplied odds can deliver a significantly larger payout compared to separate bets. It takes conviction and careful analysis, but when it comes off, the reward is all the more satisfying.
